Scoring and Rankings

Your score records recognised course progress. It is not a grade and does not prevent you from attending sessions or continuing the course.

Every award is recorded in your personal points ledger. The score on your site is the sum of that ledger.

How You Earn Score

Complete a quest after a passing guide check	+25	Once per quest

Complete a session objective with accepted evidence	+50	Once per objective
Be among the first three learners to complete a session objective	+5, +3, or +2	First, second, and third completion of that objective
Receive a valid peer thank-you	+10	Subject to the thank-you rules below

The guide only awards quest score after its deterministic check passes and the quest is your current assigned quest. Repeating a completed quest does not add score. A failed check does not subtract score.

Speed bonuses reward the first three recorded passing completions across the course, not speed of typing or submitting. They apply only after a valid completion.

Thank-You Score

Use !thank nickname reason in IRC to recognise specific help from a classmate. The recipient earns +10 score when the thank-you is accepted.

You and the recipient must be enrolled in this course.
You cannot thank yourself.
Give a nonempty reason of at most 280 characters.
You can send one thank-you per Singapore calendar day.
You can thank the same person at most three times during the course.
Two learners cannot exchange thank-yous with each other on the same day.

Tiers

Your tier is based on your total score:

Newcomer	0
Apprentice	500
Builder	1000
Maker	2000

Reaching a minimum score promotes you to that tier. The guide reports new tiers after successful quest checks. Promotions earned from session objectives and valid peer thank-yous are announced in the course IRC channels.

Rankings

Every enrolled learner appears in the ranking, including learners with zero score. A rank is one position per learner, so ties are resolved in this order:

Higher total score.
More completed quests.
Earlier most recent score award.
Alphabetical course username.

The public rankings and your personal site are refreshed from the same course records. Your points ledger is the detailed record for checking your displayed score.
